Guided Kayaking Details

Enjoy a guided inflatable kayak experience through the stunning Dominguez–Escalante National Conservation Area. This 12-mile Class I–II stretch offers a relaxed yet engaging full-day adventure, with opportunities for wildlife viewing, swimming, and plenty of time to take in the breathtaking desert landscapes and towering canyon walls of the Lower Gunnison River.

Paddling your own inflatable kayak (“duckie”) alongside our experienced guides, you’ll have the freedom to navigate the river while receiving instruction, support, and safety oversight along the way. Stable and beginner-friendly, duckies are a great option for those looking for a more hands-on river experience.

This full day trip is perfect for adventurous first-timers, families with older kids, and anyone wanting a more interactive way to explore the canyon.

Guided Overnight Trip Details

Journey down the Lower Gunnison River through the stunning Dominguez–Escalante National Conservation Area, one of Colorado’s most beautiful and remote canyon landscapes. This 2-day scenic overnight trip covers approximately 20 miles of Class I–II rapids, offering the perfect mix of gentle whitewater, canyon exploration, and riverside camping.

This trip is a raft-supported overnight adventure, with guests paddling inflatable kayaks or riding in rafts alongside experienced guides. Along the way, enjoy opportunities for wildlife viewing, swimming, and exploring the canyon.

Camp is set along the river where guests can unwind, enjoy delicious meals prepared by guides, and take in the quiet beauty of the canyon under the stars. From camp, there is also the option for a side hike up Big Dominguez Canyon to a waterfall, one of the highlights of the trip.

This fully guided trip includes all meals, water, gear, and transportation, making it an easy and unforgettable way to experience Colorado canyon country.

Trip Itinerary 

Day 1: Meet at the shop at 8:00 AM → 1.5 hr drive to put in → full day on the river with lunch → camp and dinner at Big Dominguez Canyon

Day 2: Breakfast at camp, morning on the river with lunch → return to the shop around 5:00 PM

• Safety Gear & River Essentials: PFD, med kits, water/Gatorade, dry box, cooking equipment, and Groover. 
• 75L dry bag to pack in

• Tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads are provided, unless you prefer to bring your own gear- just make sure it fits in the 110L dry bag provided for packing.
